Official municipal directories for Bavaria

The official municipal directories for Bavaria were published by the Royal Bavarian Statistical Bureau and the Bavarian State Statistical Office .

In the period from 1858 to 1889, a total of 21 community registers were published, all of which are based on census results (1855, 1861, 1867, 1871, 1875, 1880, 1885, 1900, 1905, 1910, 1919, 1925, 1933, 1939, 1946, 1950 , 1956, 1961, 1970 and 1987).

Work description

All works have a systematic part and an alphabetical part.

The systematic part consists of three sections:

The first section contains statistics on the counties . They are in the order of Upper Bavaria , Lower Bavaria , Palatinate , Upper Palatinate , Upper Franconia , Middle Franconia , Lower Franconia , Swabia discussed. The district offices (from 1938 district ) are listed in alphabetical order with information on the area, the number of municipalities and localities contained therein, the number of inhabitants (total and main residence) and number of households (= families). The population information is differentiated according to gender (male, female), civil status (single, married, widowed, divorced), denomination (Catholic, Protestant, Reformed, Greek Orthodox, Mennonite, Irwingian, Anglican, German Catholic, free religious, Israelite, non-confessional , other), citizenship (Bavaria, the rest of the Reich , foreigners) and active members of the military.

The second section contains statistics on the higher regional courts and regional courts .

The third section contains statistics on the municipalities systematically sorted by administrative districts (same order as in Part 1), in which first the independent cities are listed, then the district offices, which are in turn subdivided into the respective local courts . In the sections on the independent cities and district offices, information on the administrative bodies ( rent office , forest office, etc.) precedes. The following is an alphabetical listing of the municipalities contained therein with information on their type (municipality, market [M.], city [St.]), the number of districts , the number of inhabitants (total and main residence) and number of households (= residential buildings ) . The population information is differentiated similarly as in the first part, but the information on the denomination is limited (Catholic, Protestant, Israelite, other confession).

In the alphabetical part, all places are listed with details of the number of inhabitants, their administrative affiliation (district office or district) and where they were found in the systematic part.
