geography
The hamlet is located on the Mettlachbach, a left tributary of the Haselbach , which flows into the Bibert on the right . The Rohrgraben flows into the village as a left tributary into the Mettlachbach. In the west the ebony borders. A service road leads to Neustetten (1.7 km northwest).
history
The place was first mentioned by name in Vetterschen Oberamtsbeschreibung from 1732 as "Flocken Mühl". The “Lockenmühl” shape has been attested since 1796. It remains unclear how this name change came about. E. Fechter assumes that "Lockenmühl" was the original name, which was derived from the family name of the owner. There is also the name "Klingenmühl". This name is explained by the gorge-like location of the place.
Towards the end of the 18th century, the Lockenmühle belonged to Neustetten . The mill had the Teutonic Order of Nuremberg as landlord . From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .
As part of the community edict, Lockenmühle was assigned to the Virnsberg tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Virnsberg, founded in 1811 . On June 12, 1824, Lockenmühle was reorganized into the newly formed community of Neustetten. In the course of the regional reform , this municipality was incorporated into the Flachslanden market on January 1, 1972.
