Sérifontaine is a French commune with 2,755 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Beauvais and the Canton of Beauvais-2 .
geography
The municipality, traversed by the railway line from Paris to Dieppe , is located on the border with the Eure département on the Epte around eight kilometers north of Gisors . It includes the districts of Champ Mauger, Champignolle, Bourgerelle, Cité Sainte-Marie and Droitecour .
history
Settlement can be proven for the district of Champignolle as early as the Neolithic . Settlement continuity has existed since the Merovingian period . The place was fortified by the 11th century at the latest. The fortification was destroyed in 1198 under Richard the Lionheart . In 1268 the rule came to the Lords of Trie. In 1419 the place was burned down. Several factories were built in the 19th century. The Compagnie française des métaux merged with another company in 1952 to form Tréfimétaux, which was later taken over by the Péchiney group and later sold; copper processing came to an end in 2009.
