Savignies is a French municipality with 844 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais and is part of the Communauté d'agglomération du Beauvaisis and des Beauvais-1 .
geography
The municipality with the districts Courcelles, Le Montchel. Le Bénard and La Frênoye is located on the D1 department road around 12 km northwest of Beauvais and 7 km east-northeast of Lachapelle-aux-Pots . Savignies is the highest point of the department at 236 m. The forests around the municipality are classified as Natura 2000 area .
history
The community has had a reputation for its pottery since the Middle Ages. In 1592 the church was set on fire during the wars of religion. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the place was the seat of a marquisate.
