Abancourt is a French municipality with 651 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France (previously Picardie ). The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Picardie Verte and the canton of Grandvilliers ( canton Formerie until 2015 ).
geography
The municipality is located about six kilometers north-northeast of Formerie and eight kilometers south of Aumale on the border with the Seine-Maritime department . The railway lines from Amiens to Reims and from Aumale to Beauvais cross in Abancourt . Abancourt train station opened in 1867. The municipality includes the hamlet of la Montagne in the west and Hennicourt east of the station settlement. The source of the Bresle is just west of the municipality.
history
Ceramic finds from the Gallic-Roman period indicate early settlement.
The parish belonged to Romescmps until 1823. In 1867 the Amiens to Rouen railway was opened; the connections to Le Tréport and Paris followed from 1873 to 1875.
The community received the Croix de guerre from 1914-1918.
