Francastel (Picard: Frincaté) is a French municipality with 479 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais and is part of the Communauté d'agglomération du Beauvaisis and the canton of Saint-Just-en-Chaussée .
geography
The municipality is located on the plateau of the Picard plateau around six kilometers east-southeast of Crèvecœur-le-Grand and 6.5 km west-northwest of Froissy . It has grown together structurally with the La Neuve Rue district of the neighboring municipality of Oursel-Maison . There is a wind farm in the north of the municipality. From 1911 to 1961, the municipality was served by the secondary railway from Estrées-Saint-Denis via Froissy to Crèvecœur-le-Grand, a meter railway line.
history
A first settlement at the current cemetery outside of the buildings is said to have been destroyed by the Normans . The village built on the current site was fortified, but suffered damage in the Jacquerie . In 1472 the castle was destroyed in the conflict of the Burgundian Wars .
