Le Coudray-Saint-Germer is a French municipality with 906 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais , is the capital of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Bray and belongs to the canton of Grandvilliers .
geography
The municipality is located around 14.5 kilometers southeast of Gournay-en-Bray and around 15 kilometers northwest of Auneuil . It includes the hamlets and groups of houses L'Éclat, Le Tronquet, Les Routis and L'Aulnay, as well as part of the Foret Domaniale de Thelle state forest .
history
Louis the Younger donated the area of today's municipality, a hazel forest (coudrier, hence the name Coudray) to the Abbey of Saint-Germer-de-Fly in 1153 to build a dairy there. A century later, the monks built a permanent castle, which was expanded into a fortress at the end of the 14th century, but was soon burned down by the Burgundians and destroyed to the ground. The church was rebuilt in 1502.
