Bresles is a French municipality with 4147 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Beauvais and the Canton of Mouy .
geography
The community at the transition from the plateau of the Picard plateau to the Thérain valley is around twelve kilometers east of Beauvais . It is bypassed in the north by Route nationale 31 (European route E46) from Rouen to Reims, which has been developed as an expressway . The Trye, a small left tributary of the Thérain, flows through the south of the municipality; There are also various wetlands here (Grand Marais, Petit Marais, Marais des Cent Mines with former gravel pits), some of which are now used for growing watercress . The railway line from Rochy-Condé to Soissons is still available as far as Bresles, but abandoned to the east.
history
In 1834 a sugar factory was opened in Bresles, processing sugar beets; operations ceased in 1997 and the buildings were subsequently demolished.
