Songeons is a French commune with 1,073 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais , is part of the Communauté de communes de la Picardie Verte and was the capital of the canton of Songeons until 2015 , since then it has belonged to the canton of Grandvilliers .

The municipality in the Picardy part of the Pays de Bray is located on Thérain , the course of which is accompanied by the D133 département road, around 22 km northwest of Beauvais , below the domain forest Caumont, which is in the territory of the neighboring municipality of Gerberoy , which is also part of the south of the The district of Le Pommier Mal Soin located in Thérain. The hamlets of Seronville and Riffin and the Limermont homestead in the north belong to the municipality. From 1894 to 1934 the community was served by the railway (meter railway line from Milly-sur-Thérain to Formerie ).
Toponymy and History
In 1149 the place was named under the name Songuins.
The fortress Château Gaillard secured the place. During the Hundred Years War in 1426, a battle took place between English troops from the Gournay garrison and the French partisans. Charles the Bold's troops later plundered the place. King Francis I approved the construction of a covered market, from which the market hall later developed. In the 19th century, Songeons became famous for the manufacture of glasses and optical lenses.
