Oroër is a French municipality with 556 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais and is part of the Communauté de communes de l'Oise Picarde and the canton of Mouy .
geography
The municipality traversed by the A16 autoroute , which includes the hamlets of Hénu, La Boudinière, Boursines (seat of the municipal government) and Oroër, and part of Le Bois-Saint-Martin (largely part of Abbeville-Saint-Lucien ), extends to the west to the former Route nationale 1 around nine kilometers north of Beauvais .
Toponymy and History
The name of the community is derived from the Latin oratorio. Saint Évrost (or Evrou), abbot of Saint-Fuscien Abbey , is said to have founded the oratory here towards the end of the 6th century. The Chapter of Beauvais owned a farm in Boursines. A nunnery was founded in the place, which was moved to Beauvais in the wake of the Norman invasions, where the nuns later received the Saint-Paul monastery.
