Sainte-Geneviève is a French commune with 3,230 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Oise in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Beauvais and is part of the Communauté de communes Thelloise and the canton of Chaumont-en-Vexin .
geography
The municipality in the Pays de Thelle , located on the former Route nationale 1 , with the districts of Le Petit Fercourt, La Croix and La Fusée is around ten kilometers west of Mouy and four kilometers south of Noailles . From 1880 to 1949 it was served by the Chemin de fer de Hermes à Beaumont railway line (with meter gauge).
history
In 1333 a pilgrim hostel ( Hôtel-Dieu ) was built in Sainte-Geneviève . In the 19th century, besides the manufacture of fans, toothbrush production developed and the buildings of the Lesieur-Lesbroussart factory have been preserved. In the 1920s, the manufacture of clinical thermometers began, which was discontinued in 1995. Increased industrialization began in the 1960s.
