Pays de Thelle
The Pays de Thelle is a French natural area in the Oise department on the southern edge of the Picardy region .
location
The Pays de Thelle is located between the Vexin Français and Vexin Normand , the Pays de Bray and the Clermontois . In the south it is bounded by the valley of the Oise , in the west it includes the valleys of the Troësne and the Esches , the boundary here is the Epte . The drainage takes place partly to the Oise, partly to the Epte.

The Pays de Thelle is a sloping plateau that extends in a north-south direction from the strata of the Pays de Bray to that of the Vexin.
The subsoil consists mainly of chalk , which is partly interspersed with flint , and partly of sand and clay .
In the Pays de Thelle is the highest point of the Oise (235 m), near Lalandelle .
history
The area was previously covered by the extensive Forêt Domaniale de Thelle , of which only a remnant in the west (partly as a forest domain, especially around Lalandelle) has been preserved.
The industrialization of the predominantly agricultural area has mainly affected the valley of the Esches, which is oriented towards the Île-de-France , with Méru ( mother-of-pearl processing ) and part of the valley of the Epte. The area was badly affected by the rural exodus.
Administrative division
The Pays de Thelle, comprising 83 communes and not clearly delimited from the Vexin and the Pays de Bray, is mainly located in the Beauvais arrondissement (including most of the cantons of Méru and Chaumont-en-Vexin and around half of the cantons of Auneuil and Le Coudray-Saint -Germer and Noailles ), but also to a smaller extent in the Arrondissement Senlis (with most of the municipalities of the canton of Neuilly-en-Thelle and a small part of the municipalities of the canton of Montataire ).
The Communauté de communes du Pays de Thelle , the Communauté de communes des Sablons , the Communauté de communes du Vexin Thelle , the Communauté de communes du Pays de Bray , the Communauté de communes du Thelle Bray and the Communauté de communes la Ruraloise share in the Pays de Thelle.
