history

In 1959 the three racing enthusiasts Rolf Markl, Curd Barry and Gunther Placheta founded the Ecurie Vienne team. Gunther Placheta alias Gunther Philipp , a well-known Austrian athlete, racing driver, doctor and actor financed the racing team and made a major contribution to the team history when it was founded by providing two Poggi Formula Junior racing cars and a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. In 1960 the racing team already recorded its first titles. Ecurie Vienne was a member of the ÖASC (Austrian Automobile Sport Club).

today

After Barry's death, the Viennese racing team became increasingly quiet. In 2005 the Viennese entrepreneur and motor sportsman Johannes Huber acquired all rights including the naming rights of Ecurie Vienne from the estate.

Under the brand name Ecurie Vienne (Johannes Huber GmbH & Co KG), the restoration and care of old and youngtimers is carried out today, as well as rally and racing car construction and support during races.
