Christoph Graupner Art Prize

The Christoph Graupner Art Prize is an art prize and has been awarded since 1992. It is currently advertised every two years with alternating sub-categories for various genres of art and music.

history

The Christoph Graupner Art Prize was awarded by the then Zwickauer Land district until 2008 , on the basis of a corresponding statute of August 31, 2001. Since then, the award has been made by the new Zwickau district , now on the basis of a new statute of December 8, 2016. Until then the district of Zwickau also awarded the prize every five years as the Christoph Graupner Prize.

Modalities

The prize is awarded to promote art and culture primarily in the West Saxony region ( cultural areas Vogtland-Zwickau, Erzgebirge-Central Saxony and Chemnitz) and to popularize the work and personality of the musician and composer Christoph Graupner . It consists of an award certificate and prize money of up to 2,500 euros. Participation took place z. E.g. in 2014 by submitting a work from the genres of classical painting or graphics with a maximum height and width of 120 centimeters each, as well as in 2016 by a 15 to 20 minute long instrumental or vocal performance of a work from the time of Christoph Graupner and one further freely chosen works by instrumentalists aged 14 to 21 years. In the organization and implementation of the award ceremony, the Zwickau district alternates in the field of fine arts with the Freundeskreis Schloss Wildenfels e. V. and represented in the field of music by the city administration of Kirchberg .
