history
Until the end of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (1806)
Uehlfeld was probably created in the 6th century, i.e. at the time when the Franks spread to the east and also took possession of the Aischgrund .
One of the 14 Slavic churches in Aischgrund from the time of Charlemagne's Slav mission was probably in Uehlfeld.
The first written mention of Uehlfeld dates from the year 1123. The place was then called "Ölenteuelt". Later it became "Ulletenvelt" (1127), "Uelevelt" (1154), "Ulfeldium" (1158) or "Ulefelt" (1181). The place name contains the personal name Ulito as a qualifier, which can be seen as the founder of the place.
Originally the place belonged to the Würzburg monastery . In 1199 two parts of the tithe and a garden in Uehlfeld were exchanged for the St. Jakob monastery in Bamberg . There was a local nobility of the same name, which was probably extinguished from the 13th century. Afterwards there were two manors in Uehlfeld with a total of 72 subjects. In 1319 Uehlfeld went up in flames.
1361/64 the place appears in the Urbar of Burgraviate of Nuremberg . At that time the burgraves had 27 farmsteads and the Fraisch over the place. The Lords of Seckendorff resided in the castle . In 1361, Friedrich and Kuno von Seckendorff committed to keep their castle stable open to the Nuremberg burgrave. In 1431 Uehlfeld was devastated by the Hussites . In 1440 the Frauenaurach monastery also appeared as the owner of various properties.
During the Peasants' War (1524–1525), the castle that had existed up to that point was destroyed. The Second Margrave War (1552) destroyed the districts of Nonndorf and Rothenberg, which were subsequently not rebuilt. A fire in 1583 destroyed the parishes, among other things. Nevertheless, it can be assumed that Uehlfeld was given to the Reformation as margravial property in 1528 (the first Evangelical pastor was Michael Köhner from 1552 to 1579). The Thirty Years War with the imperial Colonel Kehraus left its traces and those of his Croatian cavalry in the whole of Aischgrund and his troops also plundered Uehlfeld and burned the place down.
In 1649, pastor Veit vom Berg (1612–1675), born in Baudenbach in 1612, was assigned to the place as pastor. He delivered his inaugural sermon in front of 31 listeners (10 men, 15 women, 6 children), the last inhabitants after a period of hardship. Before the war, Uehlfeld had over 600 inhabitants. After the end of the war, numerous evangelical religious expellees from Austria settled here, who contributed significantly to the population and reconstruction of the depopulated area . Veit vom Berg stayed in Uehlfeld until his death in 1675. Today the primary and secondary schools and a street are named after him.
From 1679, Uehlfeld was part of the administration of the regional governing body based in Neustadt an der Aisch, but has been co-administered by Dachsbach since 1700.
At the end of the 18th century there were 61 properties in Uehlfeld. The high court and the village and community rule exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach . All properties were owned by the Principality of Bayreuth as the landlord (caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach, 20 properties: 1 tavern, 1 mill, 2 courtyards, 1 half courtyard, 2 goods, 1 small estate, 1 residential estate, 6 houses, 1 drip estate , 1 small house, synagogue, Badstube, parish hall; administration Uehlfeld , 41 properties: Amtsknechthaus, Schlösslein, 6 breweries and taverns, 2 forges, 3 Gülthöfe, 11 goods, 7 Gütlein, 4 Sölden , 4 Tropfgütlein, 1 Tropfhaus, 1 apartment).
Under the Kingdom of Bavaria
In 1810 Uehlfeld came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict , the Uehlfeld tax district was formed in 1811 , to which the towns of Mailach , Nonnenmühle , Oberhöchstädt , Sichardshof , Tragelhöchstädt , Voggendorf and Weidendorf belonged. In 1813 the rural community Uehlfeld was formed, to which the nun mill belonged. With the second community edict (1818), the Nonnenmühle was moved to Tragelhöchstädt. The rural community Uehlfeld was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). From 1862, Uehlfeld was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office ( renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 11.209 km².
By the middle of the 19th century, many Jewish traders came to Uehlfeld as new residents, so that trade and commerce developed in the place. The Jews built a synagogue , a school and laid out a Jewish cemetery northwest of the village , where 406 tombstones and tombstone fragments have been preserved.
National Socialism
At the same time as or a little earlier than in Neustadt an der Aisch, a local NSDAP group was founded in Uehlfeld in 1922/23, which was initially headed by the Dachsbacher ( Oberhöchstädter ) teacher and SA senior squad leader Hans Zuleeg. On November 6, 1927, the National Socialist politician Karl Holz appeared in the Wettschureck tavern as a propaganda speaker for the NSDAP. After the NSDAP had gained a majority in the city council in Neustadt an der Aisch in 1931 , the new rulers also established themselves in Uehlfeld. A solstice celebration took place on July 2, 1932 , in which, in addition to local associations, the Stumptner music band and the men's choir , the SA also took part, and Reich speaker Dötzler from Weingartsreuth gave the fire speech. In 1934 Wilhelm Müller (* 1880) was the managing director of a dairy in Uehlfeld. As a speaker, he recommended (with the addition “We do not need to kill the Jews”) the sterilization of Jews.
Incorporations
In 1948 the Nonnenmühle was incorporated into Uehlfeld. On July 1, 1971, the previously independent municipality of Tragelhöchstädt was incorporated. Demantsfürth and Peppenhöchstädt followed on January 1, 1972. On January 1, 1978 Schornweisach was added.
Population development
In the period from 1988 to 2018, the population increased from 2,195 to 2,956 by 761 inhabitants or 34.7%.

Justification of the coat of arms: The front half of the shield is the coat of arms of the Zollerischen Burgraves of Nuremberg and later Margraves of Brandenburg, who most likely ruled the municipality since the 13th century. Under the frequently changing feudal lords, the Truchsessen von Wetzhausen were of particular importance for the place. They were fiefdoms from 1433 to 1592. Her coat of arms in the back half of the shield in the municipal coat of arms of Uehlfeld reminds of this. |
