The village is located in the southeastern Steigerwald between Uehlfeld and Schornweisach . The Weisach , a left tributary of the Aisch, flows south of the village . The Steinlohe forest area borders in the west, and the Kuckuck forest area in the north. Approx. The Vogelberg ( 313  m above sea level ) rises 0.5 km to the southwest . The district road NEA 1 leads past the Eselsmühle to Schornweisach (2.5 km west) or past the Nonnenmühle to Uehlfeld to the federal road 470 (2.3 km east). An agricultural traffic route leads to Egelsbach (0.4 km northwest).

The village was founded in a cleared island in the area of the Sandstein-Keuper on a base of the bubble sandstone . Clay layers (Letten) of red to reddish-brown color are interposed with the bubble sandstone, which are traversed by green ribbons. The Latvians west of Tragelhöchstädt are particularly noticeable. The landscape relief was modeled in the Young Tertiary and especially in the Pleistocene . The valley filling sedimented by the Weisach and Egelsbach brooks comes from the Holocene . The river system at that time was directed south. As the main river, the Urmain drained into the Danube area.

history

Restored sandstone bridge in Tragelhöchstädt

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1303/17 in the fief book of the Hochstift Würzburg . The place name has changed over the course of time from Drachenhofstet to DrachaltshöfstÄT, Tracholstösteten, Drachenhofstet and Tregelhöchstädt to the current place name. In the 14th century Konrad von Vestenberg received the town's annual tithe from the bishopric. In a document from 1348 it was mentioned that the bishop of Bamberg had the bailiwick over a hat . In 1502/06 most of the town belonged to the Nuremberg patrician Hans Truchseß, two goods were subordinate to the imperial city of Nuremberg , one to the Lords of Lauffenholz and two to the caste office of Neustadt an der Aisch.

During the Thirty Years War (1634) the village was burned down by the Forchheim hordes, so that in 1639 only two families lived in Tragelhöchstädt. Eleven years later, it was a Tragelhöchstädter who burned down the village again: He set off a wildfire because he wanted to clear his overgrown pasture and lost control of the fire in the process. In 1678 the place housed 178 inhabitants again.

Towards the end of the 18th century, there were 21 properties and a community pastor's house in Tragelhöchstädt. The high court exercised the central office of Höchstadt of the bishopric of Bamberg , the village and community rulership was held by the Bamberg office of Höchstadt . The landlords were the office of Höchstadt (6 Gütlein), the principality of Bayreuth ( caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach : 1 estate; caste office Neustadt an der Aisch : 1 estate; monastery office Birkenfeld : 1 Sölde ; administration Uehlfeld : 2 estates), the imperial city of Nuremberg (state charity office : 3 Sölden; Spitalamt Hl. Geist : 1 Gütlein), the Schönborn'sche Herrschaft Pommersfelden (5 Sölden) and the manor Neuenbürg (1 Gütlein).

In 1810 Tragelhöchstädt came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Tragelhöchstädt was assigned to the Uehlfeld tax district in 1811 . In 1813 it was assigned to the rural community of Oberhöchstädt . With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Tragelhöchstädt was formed, to which the places Egelsbach and Nonnenmühle belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). 2 properties were subject to voluntary jurisdiction by the Neuenbürg Patrimonial Court until 1835 , and 5 further properties were subject to the Pommelsbrunn Patrimonial Court until 1848 . From 1862 onwards, Tragelhöchstädt was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office ( renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 2.017 km². In 1948 the Nonnenmühle was moved to Uehlfeld.

On July 1, 1971, Tragelhöchstädt was incorporated into Uehlfeld as part of the regional reform .
