history

In 1165 and 1200, Rupprecht and Walter von der Nuvenburg were mentioned in a document. This is also the first documented mention of Neuenbürg. The castle complex was named new castle to distinguish it from the older Hannberg Castle. In the 14th century, the Lords of Maienthal owned the castle as freemen . In Bamberg Urbar of 1348 testified that the men of Maienthal early mass in Kairlindach donated. In 1388, people from Nuremberg under Ulman Stromer took the castle and destroyed it. Due to the reconstruction, the Lords of Maienthal came into economic distress, so that they had to sell almost all of their property except Neuenbürg. During the First Margrave War , the castle was again destroyed by Nuremberg troops in 1449. It was rebuilt as early as 1453. In 1535 the Maienthalers sold it to the Truchsessen von Wetzhausen , who in turn sold it in 1592 to the von Holzschuher , who owned it until 1703. The Counter-Reformation that started in Bamberg was successfully fended off under the clogs . In the period that followed, the lords of the castle changed frequently, and Neuenbürg has belonged to the von Gagern barons since 1872 .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 8 properties in Neuenbürg (1 castle, 1 mill, 6 courtyards). The high court exercised the Bamberg center office Herzogenaurach . The manor Neuenbürg held the village and community rulership , which was also the sole landlord of all properties. The manor also had manorial claims in the places Boxbrunn (1), Heßdorf (2), Niederlindach (1), Reinersdorf (6), Sauerheim (?), Schornweisach (1), Tragelhöchstädt (1) and also practiced the village in Reinersdorf - and parish rule.

As part of the community edict, Neuenbürg was assigned to the Hannberg tax district formed in 1811, and in 1818 it was part of the newly formed Reinersdorf rural community .

On January 1, 1972, Neuenbürg was incorporated into the community of Weisendorf as part of the regional reform .
