geography

The hamlet is directly surrounded by pond plates: in the north the Wunderstauden- and Lauterweiher, in the southeast the Feld- and Kohlweiler, in the southwest the village pond. There is a campsite by the village ponds . In the west the Haidholz borders, in the northeast beyond the ponds and the Mohrbach rises the Altenberg ( 300  m above sea level ).

history

The place name is derived from a field name of the same name, which denoted a mountain overgrown with fir trees. The first known fiefdoms in the village were the ministerials from Gründlach . The fiefdom passed to the Lords of Hohenlohe-Brauneck in 1315 , who donated it to the Bamberg Cathedral Chapter between 1340 and 1364 as an Oblei .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 3 properties in Dannberg (2 half courtyards, 1 estate). The high court exercised the Bamberg center office Herzogenaurach . The village and community rulership was held by the Oblei Hannberg of the Bamberg cathedral chapter, which was also the sole landlord of all properties.

As part of the community edict, Dannberg was assigned to the Hannberg tax district, which was formed in 1811 . It also belonged to the rural community of Hannberg, founded in 1818 .

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , Dannberg was incorporated into the municipality of Heßdorf on July 1, 1972 .
