Hesselberg is a district of the municipality of Heßdorf in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia ( Bavaria ).

geography

Hesselberg is on the edge of the so-called Morhof area, approx. 14 km from Erlangen and Herzogenaurach. Immediately south of the village flows the Mohrbach or Moorbach (called Strichweiherbach in the upper reaches), a left tributary of the Seebach . The place is surrounded by arable land, grassland and pond plates. In the northeast there are the Hesselberger Weiher and Überhangweiher, in the southwest the Salted Meadow Pond and in the south the Wunderstauden- and Lauterweiher. The corridor area in the northwest is called Großer Anger. In the southwest beyond the Salted Wiesen-Weiher is the Hegnichtswald.

history

1157 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document of the monastery St. Theodor , which owned here. In 1315 and 1346 Hesselberg appears in the form of the name “hesselbewer”, which can be interpreted as a house near the hazel trees. Only at a later point in time, from the 16th century, was the reinterpretation to -berg . Originally the Reichsministeriale von Gründlach had rulership rights in Hesselberg and from 1315 Hohenlohe-Braunecknach , who donated these goods to the Oblei Hannberg in 1364 . The manors Röttenbach and Adelsdorf held further basic rights at a later time.

At the end of the 18th century there were 23 properties in Hesselberg. The high court was exercised by the Bamberg center of Höchstadt . The Bamberg caste office in Höchstadt was in charge of the village and community . The landlords were the Hochstift Bamberg (Kastenamt Höchstadt: 3 Huben , 3 Halbhuben; Administration Röttenbach : 9 estates, 2 Gütlein), the cathedral chapter Bamberg ( Oblei Unterstürmig : 3 courtyards, 2 Sölden ) and the manor Adelsdorf (1 Sölde).

In 1802 the place fell to Bavaria, 1803 to Prussia and in 1810 again to Bavaria. As part of the community edict , the place was assigned to the Kairlindach tax district formed in 1811 . In 1813 the rural community Kairlindach was formed, to which Hesselberg also belonged. With the second community edict (1818), Hesselberg became its own rural community, to which Mohrhof belonged. The municipality of Hesselberg was under the administration and jurisdiction of the district court Neustadt an der Aisch and in the financial administration the rent office Neustadt an der Aisch . In the voluntary jurisdiction, a property in Hesselberg was subject to the Adelsdorf Patrimonial Court (until 1841). On July 12, 1827, the municipality of Hesselberg was assigned to the Herzogenaurach Regional Court and the Erlangen Rent Office , and on October 1, 1847 to the Herzogenaurach Rent Office . From 1862, Hesselberg was administered by the district office of Höchstadt an der Aisch (renamed the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in 1938 ) and continued to be administered by the rent office Herzogenaurach (1920–1929: Finanzamt Herzogenaurach , from 1929: Finanzamt Erlangen ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Herzogenaurach until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Herzogenaurach , from 1959 district court of Erlangen . The municipality had an area of 5,620 km².

In 1877, the citizens of Hesselberg worked together to build the village chapel of St. Ottilie, which is still preserved today. In 1942, Hesselberg narrowly escaped disaster when an airplane crashed near the town.

On May 1, 1978, Hesselberg was incorporated into the municipality of Heßdorf as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , while Mohrhof was incorporated into the city of Höchstadt an der Aisch .

Architectural monuments

  • Mohrhofer Straße 8: Adjoining outbuilding
  • Neuhauser Straße 17: Farm property
  • Neuhauser Straße 22: Within Hesselberg, the St. Ottilie church from 1877 should be mentioned. Major renovations took place in 1973 when the neo-Gothic altar was removed and a popular altar was erected. The highlight are the sculptures of St. Wendelind and the patroness of the church, St. Ottilie. The ceiling painting comes from P. Weingärtner, who also created the war memorial in the outer niche.
