history

In 1050 the ministerials Sizzo and Iggelhart de Mennenbach were mentioned in a document. This is also the first documentary mention of (Ober-) Membach as their manor. In the following years the fiefdoms changed . One fiefdom holder was the Bamberg Cathedral monastery in 1170, the other fiefdom holder was the Carmelite monastery in Bamberg in 1174 . The monastery's claims were sold in 1335 to the Nuremberg patrician Konrad Groß , who transferred them to the Nuremberg Heilig-Geist-Spital , which he founded in 1339 . In 1390 Ulrich Pfinzing was a fief carrier in the village. During the Thirty Years War , Tilly's mercenaries completely burned the place down. The Bamberg estates were not rebuilt after the war. After that there were only two courtyards that were subordinate to the Heilig-Geist-Spital. A chapel was donated by Margarete Gumbmann. This was consecrated on October 29, 1725 and received the patronage of Valentin .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were two properties (2 estates) in Obermembach. The high court exercised the Bamberg center office Herzogenaurach . The only landlord was the Nuremberg Hospital Office .

As part of the community edict, Obermembach was assigned to the Hammerbach tax district formed in 1811 . It belonged to the rural community of Heßdorf, founded in 1818 .
