history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1468. In the 15th century, the Bamberg cathedral provost office was Büchenbach fief carrier for seven properties and a tavern. In addition, the Nuremberg patricians had received some goods from Haller as fiefs. Later the patricians of Scheurl appear as fiefs. It is not known whether they bought the goods directly from the Hallers. During the Thirty Years War , the place was far less affected than the neighboring town of Obermembach .

In the late 18th century, there were in bottom Embach 13 property (3 Huben , Huben 2/2, 1 yard, 1 Halbhof, 1 Viertelhube, 1 Achtelhube, 1 Schenk Instead, one house, one little house, one shepherd house). The high court exercised the Bamberg cathedral provost office in Büchenbach to a limited extent, and if necessary it had to deliver it to the Bamberg center office in Herzogenaurach . The Dompropsteiamt Büchenbach held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties.

As part of the community edict, Untermembach was assigned to the Hannberg tax district formed in 1811 . It belonged to the rural community of Heßdorf, founded in 1818 .
