Friedrich Ferdinand Traugott Heerwagen (born December 8, 1732 in Buttenheim , † March 10, 1812 in Uehlfeld ) was a German Protestant theologian and musicologist . He was rector in Berneck in the Fichtelgebirge and was ordained in 1766 when he also took over the office of parish priest there . From 1785 until his death he was pastor in Uehlfeld.

Heerwagen wrote an important work on the history of Protestant sacred songs in the last half of the 18th century. Although the work is considered indispensable in terms of content, it is confusing and not nicely designed on the outside. The actual text of the work can only be found in notes on songs / poets / song collections, with these notes again being annotated, so that the relationship between the notes is often unclear. Other works such as the festival catechism, however, are not significant.
