history
The place was first mentioned by name in the fief book of the Hochstift Würzburg as "Kotzenurach". This records that Bishop Andreas von Gundelfingen (1303-13) gave a mill and a Hube to Walther von Seckendorf as a fief there. 1311 via suitable Burggraf Friedrich IV. The monastery Heilsbronn a Novalzehnten in "Puke Urach". The monastery subsequently acquired a total of nine estates and 30 acres of community forest there. In 1575 it was noted in the Salbuch of the Wilhermsdorf rule that Kotzenaurach had become a desert. The place was only rebuilt in the second half of the 17th century. Until the 1850s the place was called "Kurzenauarach".
Towards the end of the 18th century there were 20 properties in Kotzenaurach (2 mills, 1 forge, 1 yard, 5 estates, 7 houses, 4 small houses). The high court and the village and community rulership exercised the rule Wilhermsdorf. All properties had the Buchklingen manor as landlord .
In 1810 Kotzenaurach came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the parish edict, it was assigned to the Buchklingen tax district formed in 1811 . The place was a real community until 1815, then belonged to the rural community Buchklingen and was subject to the Wilhermsdorf court until 1818 . On November 9, 1824, the Rural Municipality Kotzenaurach was formed, in which the former rural community Kappersberg with Knochenhof and brick cottage has been integrated. She was in administration and jurisdiction of the district court Erlbach and in the financial administration of the bursary Ipsheim or Rentamt Neustadt . However, the Wilhermsdorf Patrimonial Court held voluntary jurisdiction and the police until 1839. From 1862 Kotzenaurach was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Markt Erlbach rent office (1920–1929: Markt Erlbach tax office , from 1929: Neustadt an der Aisch tax office ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 with the district court of Markt Erlbach, 1880–1959 district court of Markt Erlbach , from 1959 district court of Fürth . The municipality had an area of 2.924 km².
