history

The place is mentioned in the fief book of the Hochstift Würzburg , which must have originated between 1303 and 1317, as "Birbaum" for the first time. Fiefs at that time were Sitzo Mumler (one fief) and Arnold von Dachsbach (two hubs , a fief, a forest and the tithe of the place). As a result, the place fell to the burgraviate of Nuremberg . In the castle count's Salbuch from 1361/64 the place is mentioned as "Pirpaum". It was subordinate to the Dachsbach Castle Count's Office. In 1422 the place was mentioned as "Pirpawm", in 1433 as "Pirpamm" and 1601 as "Bierbaum". The Lords of Aurach (er) resided from 1462 until the 16th century. Subsequently, the lords of Crailsheim became village lords, then Schenk von Siemau , in 1635 the imperial Rittmeister (Bleymann or) Bleimann von Löwenburg and then the lords of Wildenstein. During the Thirty Years War Birnbaum was looted in autumn 1631 and attacked again in 1632. The margraves commissioned captain Bleimann to restore the destroyed castle and make it a place of refuge for many, including the pastor Veit vom Berg (1612–1675), the "hero in the church skirt".

At the end of the 18th century there were 37 properties in Birnbaum. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach , the village and community rulership was held by the Brandenburg-Bayreuth administration Birnbaum . The landlords were the Birnbaum administration (32 properties: castle, 1 mill, 1 hammer forge, 1 tavern, 1 forge, 1 estate, 14 estate, 2 semi-estates, 2 houses, 4 semi-houses, 4 small houses) and the Würzburgisches Juliusspital - administration office Burgbernheim (4th floor) Goods, 1 inn).

In 1810 Birnbaum came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Birnbaum was assigned to the Dachsbach tax district in 1811 . In 1813 the tax district Birnbaum was formed, to which Arnshöchstädt , Emelsdorf , Göttelbrunn , Gottesgab , Kästel , Kleehof , Linden , Peppenhöchstädt , Rohensaas , Sintmannsbuch , Traishöchstädt , Wiesenmühle , Willmersbach and Ziegelhütte belonged. In the same year the rural community Birnbaum was formed, to which Emelsdorf, Kleehof, Linden, Sintmannsbuch, Wiesenmühle, Willmersbach and Ziegelhütte belonged. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community was split into

  • Rural community Birnbaum with meadow mill;
  • Rural community of Kästel with Emelsdorf, Linden and Sintmannsbuch;
  • Rural community Willmersbach with brickworks;
  • Kleehof to the rural community Gerhardshofen.

The rural community of Birnbaum was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). From 1862 Birnbaum was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed the Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The community had an area of 3.018 km².

On July 1, 1971, Birnbaum was incorporated into Gerhardshofen as part of the regional reform .
