history

The place was first mentioned by name in a document that must have been created between 1317 and 1322 as "Wielmerspach". At that time the place belonged to the Würzburg monastery . Ulrich and Johannes vom Lauffenholz and Erkenbert receive the village from Würzburg Bishop Gottfried III in the certificate . from Hohenlohe to fiefdom. The owners changed repeatedly and around 1340 the first named citizen of "Wulmersbach" was named, the farmer Kornmeyer. There is also talk of a “Sumerhube”, perhaps the forerunner of the castle farm, now called the castle. At the beginning of the 16th century Willmersbach belonged to a Hans von Truchseß and was under the jurisdiction of Dachsbach. His Willmersbacher estate should have been around 35 hectares of arable land.

In 1698 there was the castle farm in Willmersbach, which included fields, meadows and 20 ponds. There were also six farms and a brick hut. The sheep farm with 200 sheep was not rebuilt after the Thirty Years War . In 1720 the Barons von Wildenstein had 16 huts built in Willmersbach. Due to the lack of land, these residents often had to work as day laborers for the large farmers in the surrounding villages, where they often had to work the whole day for a few natural products, or to work as craftsmen. Around 20 families had settled in Willmersbach by the middle of the century.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 19 properties and a community shepherd's house in Willmersbach. The high court and the village and community rule exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach . The landlords were the Brandenburg-Bayreuth administration Birnbaum (14 estates ) and the Würzburg Juliusspital - administration office Burgbernheim (4 estates, 1 drip house ).

In 1810 Willmersbach came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, Willmersbach was assigned to the Dachsbach tax district in 1811 . In 1813 the tax district and rural community Birnbaum was formed, to which Willmersbach also belonged. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Willmersbach was formed, to which the brickworks belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). From 1862, Willmersbach was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office ( renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 1.716 km².

On July 1, 1971, Willmersbach was incorporated into Gerhardshofen as part of the regional reform .
