Jessie J
Jessie J (born March 27, 1988 in Redbridge , London , England ; actually Jessica Ellen Cornish ) is a British pop musician who is known worldwide with songs such as Price Tag (2011), Domino (2011) and Bang Bang (2014) has been.
Career
Career start
At the age of eleven, Jessie J took part in the musical Whistle Down the Wind in London's West End . In addition, she started writing poetry at an early age. She did an artistic training at the BRIT School and then signed a contract with Gut Records . However, the label broke up due to bankruptcy before they could release anything.
At 18, she threw a slight stroke health back, then it was but as a songwriter of Sony contracted and wrote, among other things Alicia Keys , Chris Brown , Lisa Lois and Miley Cyrus ( Party in the USA ). In 2008, Jessie J toured the UK with Cyndi Lauper . To do this, she worked with Dr. Luke , BoB and Labrinth on their own debut album. The song Do It Like a Dude became their first single in late 2010 and peaked at number two on the UK charts.
She is the winner of the BBC Sound of 2011 poll . In addition, she won the critics' award at the BRIT Awards 2011. Her second single Price Tag , recorded together with BoB , was released in February 2011 and went straight to number one . In Germany, the song made it to number three.
2010–2012: Who You Are
In late 2010, Jessie J released her debut single Do It Like a Dude . Jessie originally wrote the song for Rihanna , so Jessie was also inspired by Rihanna's number-one hit Rude Boy , and both songs share some similarities. Jessie J also wanted to sing this song with Rihanna once. Critics praised the song. The song reached number two in the British charts. Her second single Price Tag was released in January 2011, it was a collaboration with US rapper BoB The song went straight to number 1 on the UK charts and was Jessie's first number one hit. On February 1, 2011, Price Tag was published in the United States and immediately reached number 23, the greatest success of her young career to date. Price Tag also became a number one hit in many other English-speaking countries. As of October 2011, the Price Tag music video had been viewed over 148 million times on the Internet, making it one of the most watched music videos of all time. On March 12, 2011, Jessie J made her first appearance on American television on NBC's Saturday Night Live .
Her debut album Who You Are was released on February 28, 2011 in the UK, April 12 in the US and May 20 in Germany. In Britain, Who You Are with platinum excellent. Jessie J began work on her debut album in 2006 and finished it on January 19, 2011. The album became a worldwide success, reaching top ten positions in many countries and number 11 in the United States. Due to the success of Who You Are in the USA, Katy Perry took on Jessie J as opening act for her California Dreams tour in the USA. In the summer of 2011, Jessie J released Nobody's Perfect as the third single, this song again became a top ten hit in the UK charts. At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards , Jessie J sang many songs from her debut album and covers. In 2011 Jessie J recorded the song Repeat with David Guetta . So that the song could still appear on Guetta's announced album Nothing but the Beat , the release of the already completed album was postponed.
On October 4, 2011, Jessie J confirmed that she will be a judge and coach on the UK singing talent show The Voice UK , which airs on BBC One . She acted there for two seasons. She was no longer available for the third season of The Voice UK .
For James Morrison's third album The Awakening both recorded the song Up . It was published on December 4th, 2011 and reached number 19 in Germany. On November 9, 2011, she released a new version of Who You Are with two new songs, including her song Domino , which was even more successful than Price Tag in the US and reached number six in the charts. The single Laserlight , which she recorded with David Guetta, also made it into the top 5 of the charts in Great Britain. In her songs she deals with topics such as bullying , self-confident behavior and her own past (e.g. Who's Laughing Now , Who You Are ). On August 12, 2012, Jessie J performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London's Olympic Stadium and sang the song We Will Rock You by Queen with band members Brian May and Roger Taylor .
On November 16, 2012, the song Silver Lining (Crazy 'bout You) was released , which can be heard on the soundtrack to the film Silver Linings . In December of the same year, Jessie J worked with singer Daley on a song called Remember Me .
2013–2016: Alive and Sweet Talker
In September 2013 their second album called Alive was released . The first single Wild was released on May 26, 2013 and could reach number 5 in the English charts. The second single is It's My Party . The third single was Thunder in December 2013 . She started the Alive Tour in October 2013 . She recorded the song Calling All Hearts with DJ Cassidy and Robin Thicke .
On October 13, 2014, Jessie J released her third studio album Sweet Talker , which reached number 5 on the UK album charts. The first single, Bang Bang , a collaboration with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj , was released in advance on July 29, 2014 and reached number 1 on the British singles chart and number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 . Bang Bang has sold over a million copies in the United States so far, so the song was awarded a platinum record . On September 23, 2014, the second single Burnin 'Up was released , in which 2 Chainz took a part. The third single is Masterpiece , which reached number 10 in Germany.
In the fourth and fifth seasons of The Voice in Australia, she was hired as a coach. In 2015 she released the song Flashlight for the soundtrack of the film Pitch Perfect 2 . She will also be featured on the Disney tribute album for which she recorded the Part of Your World title . She later released a cover version of the Christmas song The Man with the Bag .
On the occasion of Prince 's death on April 21, 2016, a tribute evening in honor of the musician took place on October 13, 2016 in Saint Paul (US state Minnesota) in the Xcel Energy Center , on which Jessie J also performed.
2017–2019: ROSE and This Christmas Day
On August 11, 2017, she released the single Real Deal . The first single from her fourth studio album ROSE is titled Think About That and was released on September 15, 2017. Jessie J said about the title of the album that Rose is her mother's name and that roses are given to others, so this album is a gift for her fans is. She also said that she would like to be more personal on the album and would like to continue musically on her debut album Who You Are . The song Not My Ex was released as the second single on October 6th . The song Queen was released as the third single on November 17, 2017.
She won the Chinese show Singer as the first international performer in April with almost half of the audience votes.
On May 18, 2018, Jessie posted her video for Queen . From May 22nd to May 25th 2018 she released her fourth studio album ROSE, divided into four EPs : Realizations , Obsessions , Sex and Empowerment , of which one EP was released on one day in this order.
On October 26, 2018, she released her first Christmas album This Christmas Day , which featured ten covers of various Christmas classics and one song of her own ( This Christmas Day ). For the album she worked a. A. with Boyz II Men and Babyface .
In December 2018 it was announced that Jessie J would be hired as a coach for the third season of the talent show The Voice Kids UK . This aired in the summer of 2019.
Life
The singer has been in a relationship with actor Channing Tatum since October 2018 and lives with him in England.
