Nothing but the Beat is the fifth studio album by French DJ David Guetta and also the title of a film about the DJ that was released in late 2011. It was released on August 26, 2011 by the EMI France and Virgin Records labels . On September 7, 2012, the corresponding EP Nothing but the Beat 2.0 was released and on December 7, the Nothing but the Beat Ultimate version, which contains all the songs from both albums.
history
When David Guetta was asked about his fifth album in January 2011, he said it would be out in September. He also said that his new sound was inspired by rock bands like Coldplay and Kings of Leon . On March 25, 2011, Guetta gave his first interview about his upcoming fifth album. There should be songs with earlier features like Akon and will.i.am as well as several new ones . Among the featured songs on the album was Little Bad Girl with Ludacris and Taio Cruz . Another song from the album was Where Them Girls At with Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj . Where Them Girls At was released as the album's first single worldwide on May 2, 2011, after an unfinished version was leaked online. The song immediately entered the charts everywhere, in Germany at number 5, where it later received gold status. On July 20, the video for Where Them Girls At was released.
On June 27th, the song Little Bad Girl was released in Germany . The first download promo single Titanium with Sia was released on August 5th. The second promo single was Lunar (with Afrojack ) on August 15th. Night of Your Life starring Jennifer Hudson was released as the third promo single on August 22nd. The next official single was the song Without You , which had already entered the German charts when the album was released, together with Usher on September 27th. In the US, the song Guetta secured the highest ranking in the Hot 100 with position 4. The video was released on October 14th. After Titanium was released worldwide as the fourth single on December 9th , it presented excerpts of the music video for the first time on December 17th, which appeared in stores five days later. The fifth single Turn Me On made it into the top 100 of the download charts in the last week of December. The first instrumental single The Alphabeat was released on March 23, 2012.
When it entered the German album charts, the album only landed at number 2, where it stayed in the second week. It wasn't until the third week that it ousted the Red Hot Chili Peppers with I'm with You from the top. On iTunes it was the third best-selling album of 2011 after 21 and Doo-Wops & Hooligans .
At the 2012 Grammy Awards , Guetta was nominated for Best Dance Recording with Sunshine and Best Dance / Electronica Album with his album.

The album was rated very mixed. It was often praised, but there was also criticism - especially because the first CD was too mainstream.
The site laut.de awarded and described the album as a Trojan horse , stupid and wooden, but practical.
The magazine mbeat awarded 80 out of 100 points: "Guetta is more than just a DJ in a good mood".
The site Plattentests.de wrote: "If you find yourself there, you will have the time of your life in the Atzen cosmos, everyone else will receive further confirmation that double albums are never good."
The style of the electronic CD has also often been compared to Daft Punk and Deadmau5 , but it was for the most part better received than CD 1, as Guetta tries to return to his musical roots: club music and not dance pop. "I would like to educate people a bit, because after all I don't see myself primarily as a pop star, but actually come from the underground house scene in Paris," said Guetta in an interview about the second CD.
