When Love Takes Over (English for When love takes over ) is a song of the French DJs and producers David Guetta , he with the US American singer Kelly Rowland has taken. The song was released as the first single from the album One Love on April 21, 2009. When Love Takes Over was produced by David Guetta and Frédéric Riesterer.

background

Kelly Rowland has stated on several occasions that dance music is actually not the type of music she wants to record. In 2008, however, she met Guetta in the south of France at one of his DJ appearances. Guetta played the instrumental version of When Love Takes Over; then she cried:

“I felt so much emotion from the track; something happened the first time I heard it, and it was just beautiful. And I remember thinking 'Why is this touching me like this?' You know, it was like there was a kinda soul-tie to it! "

“This title was so close to me! When I first heard him, something happened that was just beautiful. And I remember thinking: Why does this affect me so? You know, it was kind of like my soul was connected to this song. "

After meeting Guetta, Rowland asked if she could write the lyrics for the song.

"So I met David and asked him for the track ... He gave it to me, and I brought it back here to London, UK and wrote the actual song."

"So I met him and asked for the title ... He gave it to me and I brought it back to London and wrote the lyrics."

Rowland later met Guetta in the recording studio to record the song.

Recording and production

The song was recorded and mixed in the summer and autumn of 2008. After Kelly Rowland received a demo of the instrumental piano version of When Love Takes Over with drums, she wrote the lyrics for it and recorded the piece in London within a day. She got support from the Australian songwriters Miriam Nervo and Olivia Nervo (The Nervo Twins ). The song was not followed up by Guetta at the time until he began recording his studio album, One Love . After the song had been selected for the studio album One Love, Guetta commissioned Frédéric Riesterer to do the final mixing of the song.

composition

When Love Takes Over is a synthpop dance "uplifting floor-filler" song produced by David Guetta and Frédéric Riesterer. Jason Lipshutz from Billboard Magazine described the song as a pop number, built with a piano loop and pounding drums, with disco beats and trance elements.

Background and concept

The music video was shot on Venice Beach and Boardwalk.

"You see Kelly doing her thing and then me on the other side doing mine. Eventually we come together just like how we recorded the song. It's all about sharing the love from this record and making a big party. "

“You see Kelly doing her thing and I do mine. At some point we will come together, just like we recorded the song. It's about sharing the love that emanates from this record and about celebrating it. "

The music video premiered on June 8, 2009 on David Guetta's YouTube channel.
