Nervo (also The Nervo Twins ) is an Australian EDM duo, consisting of the twins Miriam and Olivia Nervo (born February 17/18, 1982 in Ivanhoe , Melbourne ). They are active as models , singers , songwriters and DJanes . With their music they mainly represent the genres of dance and progressive house .

Childhood and youth

The twins were born in Ivanhoe, a suburb of Melbourne , where they grew up. First Miriam was born on February 17th, then Olivia on February 18th, 1982. They started their careers as models in Australia with the Chadwick Models Agency. You were an ambassador at the L'Oréal Fashion Festival.

Career

Until 2011: musical beginnings and first record deal

By the age of 16 the duo had already made a name for themselves in the modeling scene, but decided to focus more on music professionally. They were accepted by the Opera Australia Academy, but chose to devote themselves to pop music . At the age of 18, they met a producer in Melbourne who asked them to record some demo songs. They then signed a contract with Sony / ATV Music Publishing and began a songwriting career. Among other things, they wrote numerous songs for artists such as Kesha , the Pussycat Dolls , Sophie Ellis-Bextor , Ashley Tisdale and Rachel Stevens . In 2008, they also took part in the songwriting for David Guetta's song When Love Takes Over with Kelly Rowland , which won a Grammy and achieved numerous chart positions worldwide.

In March 2010 Nervo announced that they had signed a contract with the label " Virgin Records / EMI Music ". A month later they released the song This Kind Of Love as a single. They also worked on recordings for Kylie Minogue , Britney Spears , Cheryl Cole , Armin van Buuren and again for Kelly Rowland . They also released their single " Irresistible " which topped the UK Club Charts.

2011–2012: Increasing popularity at festivals

In June 2011, Nervo opened the Femme Fatale Tour of Britney Spears . In July 2011 they released the track The Way We See The World together with Afrojack and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike , which acted as the anthem for the Tomorrowland festival in Belgium . There they performed as DJanes two weeks later. They were also on stage with Afrojack and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike to present the song. We're All No One followed on September 2, 2011 . A second collaboration with Afrojack, in which Steve Aoki was also involved. They topped the UK club charts with the song again.

In August 2011 they signed with the model agency Wilhelmina Models and performed twice in Pacha in Ibiza . With The Night Of Your Life by David Guetta & Jennifer Hudson , Don't Go Breaking My Heart by Agnes Carlsson and Try With Me by Nicole Scherzinger , Nervo achieved further commercial successes as songwriters.

In 2012, the twins performed at several festivals such as Creamfields in Brazil , Sunset Music Festival in Tampa, Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas , Nature One in Kastellaun and Spring Awakening Music Festival in Chicago . They also released their new single You're Gonna Love Again . They also performed at Tomorrowland 2012, where they presented Like Home , their new collaboration with Nicky Romero . In September, the song In My Head , to which Nervo contributed the vocals, appeared on David Guetta's successful album Nothing but the Beat 2.0 .

2013–2014: Revolution and Ready for the Weekend

In the spring of 2013 Nervo released the single Hold On , which brought them number 1 in the US Billboard Dance Charts for the first time in their career. In addition, they achieved a high reach with the single Revolution and moved up to 37th place in the British singles charts, among other places. They also reached the Belgian and French singles charts. In addition to the twins, the Dutch producers R3hab and Ummet Ozcan also contributed to the title . The elaborate music video in which all musicians participated was also praised.

The song Army followed later in 2013 , which they recorded with Sultan + Ned Shepard and R&B musician Omarion. At the same time, the twins produced an official remix of Cyndi Lauper's song Time After Time for the album "She's So Unusual: A 30th Anniversary Celebration (Deluxe Edition)" which was released on April 1, 2014.

In the DJ Mag Top 100 of 2013, Nervo rose from 46th place to 16th place, which means they are still by far the highest-placed female DJs in this ranking.

With Ready For The Weekend they reached the top of the Beatport charts in 2014. Here they worked a second time with R3hab. Ayah Marar also contributed vocals. Rise Early Morning , which was created together with the American dream pop trio Au Revoir Simone , was released as the first single from their upcoming studio album Collateral in autumn 2014.

2015–2016: Collateral

It Feels was released as a single in early 2015. The song was created in collaboration with the American songwriter and producer KSHMR and represented a more calm style than their previous singles. Haute Mess followed as the third single and was able to advance to number five in the US dance charts. They also worked with Tony Junior on Steve Aoki's studio album Neon Future II on the song Lightning Strikes . This followed some time later as a single release and enjoyed great popularity in the EDM scene.

Their debut studio album, Collateral , was released on July 24, 2016 . This resulted in a number of single releases. Including Hey Ricky with Kreayshawn, Dev and Alisa Ueno, The Other Boys with Kylie Minogue , Jake Shears and Nile Rodgers and Let It Go with Nicky Romero . Did We Forget followed in June 2016 as the last release. Amba Shepherd contributed the vocals. Shortly thereafter, they released the song People Grinnin , which Child of Luv starred . With the song and the music video, they take up the issue of gender roles in terms of technology and reinforce their own development in the DJ scene. The track moved up to number one on the US dance charts.

2017: Lost in You

In September 2016, Anywhere You Go was a collaboration with Timmy Trumpet . However, they do not represent its typical big room style, but pursue a mixture of tropical and deep house. In Your Arms followed in the spring of 2017 in a trap garb. On April 14th, 2017 they released the future bass song Lost in You together with Quintino via "Spinnin 'Records".
