biography

Jolin Tsai became a voice actress for the game We Dancing Online after she released Dancing Diva .

Tsai won an MTV singing competition with Whitney Houston's Greatest Love of All at the age of 18 and was awarded a contract with Universal Music . Her first single Living With the World was initially only sold in supermarkets, where it became a success. Her debut album Jolin 1019 followed in September 1999 , which sold over 400,000 times and earned her an image based on the character traits of a cheeky, young woman (nickname: Teenage Boy Killer). The second album Don't Stop was released in May 2000 and was able to build on the success of the predecessor. After two less successful albums and an image change away from the teeny image, she signed a new contract with Sony BMG . With a new record company behind her, she made a comeback. Their first single under Sony BMG, Spirit of the Knight ( 騎士 精神 ), enjoyed renewed success and led the record company to release their most successful album to date, See My 72 Changes . This album contained a number of successful single releases, including See My 72 Changes , which reached the top of the charts, and Say Love You . The new style that she presented has been described as more feminine and seductive.

A move to EMI Capitol Records, she made a comeback in 2006 with Dancing Diva . In 2007 she released three short films under the name Agent J , in which she works as an agent in London, Paris and Bangkok. The soundtrack, which was released as an album under the same name in 2007, heralded a further change in image for the mandopop singer, as she now also took up more difficult topics such as death or betrayal as the theme for songs. In addition, Tsai published two illustrated books with pictures from photo shoots in Hawaii and Thailand.

As a promotion for a world tour, she released the song Dancing Forever . The album consists of 2 CDs and a DVD. The first CD contains cover songs, among others by her idols Faye Wong and Sandy Lam . The CD also includes a cover sung in the Taiwanese dialect by the rock group Wubai and their own song Pretence in Cantonese. The second CD contains remixed versions of the uptempo tracks from their album ( Dancing Diva , Attraction of Sexy Lips and Mr Q. ), for which different DJs were responsible. The DVD contains their LUX concert in Kaohsiung with guest appearances by Stanley Huang and the boy band Energy.

In September 2016 she released a newly sung version of his song I Wanna Know in collaboration with the Swedish DJ and producer Alesso . This was released on the record label "Eternal Music Productions" in selected Asian countries. In June 2017, a collaboration with the Dutch producer Hardwell followed . This is a long-awaited track that has only been played as an instrumental until now. It was published under the title We Are One on June 20, 2017 in Asia via "Eternal". However, the track was released by Hardwell in the rest of the world on July 28 of the same year as part of his Hardwell & Friends EP Volume 01 , with vocals by Alexander Tidebrink instead of her, as a single and on the EP.
