DJ Magazine
The DJ Magazine (often called DJ Mag titled) is a monthly British magazine that came on 31 January 1991 in the trade of the most prestigious trade magazines within the disc jockey scene counts.
history
The magazine is published by Thrust Publishing Ltd. in London with a circulation of around 30,000 copies. There are also separate editions in China , Bulgaria , France , Italy , Lithuania , Poland , Portugal , Spain and the Ukraine . The content is mainly devoted to electronic dance music as well as nightlife , technology and fashion .
Between 2011 and 2014 there was a German licensed edition , the content of which was expanded to include topics such as lifestyle , art and culture . It had a print run of around 10,000 and appeared on the last Friday of each month. Like the British mother sheet, it was multi-faceted and reported on national and international topics. The focus, however, was on the domestic disk jockey scene. Most recently, Boom Bang Publishing UG , based in Frankfurt am Main , was responsible for the publication of the magazine under the leadership of Alexander Fechner . However, due to declining sales and a lack of interest in advertising, sales were discontinued.
In 2018, the newly founded DJ Mag Germany GmbH , based in Weeze , resumed sales of the German-language licensed edition as a purely online medium under the direction of Arian Amedie.
DJ Mag Top 100 DJs
The magazine enjoys a lot of attention in the scene thanks to its selection of the top 100 DJs . This has been carried out every year since 1997 and in 2010 registered over 500,000 voters from 235 countries. Because of its popularity, attempts have also been made to manipulate the election. The ranking is often criticized because it only shows the popularity of the DJs, but does not say anything about their skills.
The following DJs have already been in the top 5 or at least once in the top 3 several times:
