criticism
The festival came under fire in 2019 because a ban on disposable cups has been in place throughout Salzburg since the beginning of the year, but the organizers are taking advantage of the fact that there is an exception for events over 10,000 people due to "logistical reasons".
Death of a festival visitor
On July 11, 2015, shortly before 8 p.m., a lighting tower made of steel scaffolding fell over and hit a 23-year-old visitor from Koppl , Salzburg. He died of severe internal injuries. The police said, "the lighting towers would have to withstand wind speeds of 60 km / h." Official measurements at the Salzburg airport station, which is closest to the Salzburgring, indicated gusts of up to 78 km / h. In September 2015, the investigations and the proceedings were discontinued because “no person could be identified who had acted negligently or even deliberately in connection with the death of the victim […].” Furthermore, “the construction of the lighting tower complied with the applicable regulations and The security measures prescribed by the authorities were initiated in good time in view of the approaching storm. ”On the advice of the authorities, the festival was not canceled and took place again next year after consulting with the victims.
COVID-19 pandemic
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the festival for 2020 has been canceled.

Remarks
- ↑ The way in which the number of visitors is counted is inconsistent. The international counting method customary in the industry adds up the daily visitors for all days (“Total Attendance”). See the explanations by the specialist magazine DJ Mag here and festival founder Bernd Dicks here . For the daily number of visitors see the info box.
