history

"Coupling". Franzisco-Josephinische Landesaufnahme , sheet 31–48 Salzburg , around 1900

The church in Koppl is mentioned as early as the 13th century as the vicariate church of Seekirchen. Until the secularization, Koppl was the seat of a court marque of the Bishop of Chiemsee . After a fire on July 23, 1816, the church in Koppl was consecrated again on July 12, 1886 by Archbishop Franz Albert Eder . In 1823/24 Joseph Mohr von Anthering was temporary vicarious provisional officer in Koppl. A plaque in the southern outside chapel of the parish church of St. Jakob reminds of this.

Guggenthal was originally part of the Gnigl community . When it was incorporated into Salzburg in 1935, the Guggenthal residents decided to integrate into the Koppl community.

The Salzburgring, opened in 1969, is located in the Nesselgraben between Koppl and Hof near Salzburg .

In Guggenthal, grassland was rededicated and in 2010 a private person erected an art depot building made of precast concrete for rent by the Museum der Moderne Salzburg . The Naturschutzbund criticized this destruction of the landscape according to its own statements.

  • Koppler Moor : The largest contiguous moor area in the municipality is the Koppler Moor. In a basin to the west of the town, it used to be much larger than it is today. To the enlightened man of the 19th century, wetlands and bogs appeared to be unproductive areas that should be converted into usable areas. Drainage in the form of deep trenches and drainages led to the most effective possible drying out of the upper soil layers. The peat of the raised bogs was extracted for heating purposes.
