Franz de Paula Albert Eder OSB (born January 30, 1818 in Hallein as Albert Eder ; † April 10, 1890 in Salzburg ) was Archbishop of Salzburg .

Albert Eder was born as the son of the kuk office controller Peter Paul Eder and his wife Theresia, née Hintner. He studied in Salzburg and entered the Benedictine monastery of St. Peter, where he was named St. Franz von Paula , made his profession in 1842 and was ordained a priest in 1843 . In 1857 he was elected abbot of the St. Peter monastery . From 1860 to 1865 he was a member of the Reichsrat , also a member of the state parliament from 1861 to 1867 ( 1st electoral term ), 1870 to 1871 ( 3rd electoral term ) and from April 5, 1877 ( 5th , 6th electoral term , virile vote of the Archbishop, whom he from the Death of his predecessor).

On May 27, 1876, he was appointed Archbishop of Salzburg as successor to Maximilian Joseph von Tarnóczy . After confirmation by the Pope, the Archbishop of Prague Friedrich Johannes Jacob Cölestin von Schwarzenberg donated him the episcopal ordination on October 22nd, 1876 .

Franz Eder was a special friend of church music and liturgical congregational singing and also published a new hymn book ("Alleluja"). His grave is in the Salzburg Cathedral .
