Franz von Spiegelfeld

Franz Xaver Matz Freiherr von Spiegelfeld (born May 10, 1802 in Trieste , † October 20, 1885 in Volders , Tyrol ) was regional president of Salzburg and governor of Upper Austria .

Life

Spiegelfeld came from a family of civil servants, his father was Gubernial President . Spiegelfeld attended, together with his brother Johann Deodat (1805–1876), the Theresian Academy from 1817 to 1825 and then, like his father, started a civil service career. He began as a Concepts candidate for the Lower Austrian provincial government, moved to the Gubernium in Innsbruck in 1830 , became an imperial treasurer, a real privy councilor and served as a councilor at the imperial governor for Tyrol and Vorarlberg.

From 1861 to 1863 Spiegelfeld was President of the Crown Land of Salzburg . In 1863 the city awarded him Salzburg , the honorary citizenship .

From April 28, 1863 to January 8, 1867 he was then governor of Austria on the Enns . When he took office, he was already ready for retirement at almost 62 years of age.

In 1855 Spiegelfeld married Countess Maria von Bussy-Mignot (1831–1902) for the second time and had four children with her. His son, Markus von Spiegelfeld , who ruled Tyrol from 1906/07 to 1913, also became imperial governor. The sons Markus, Karl and Heinrich were later raised to the rank of count.
