Erasmus of Commerce
Erasmus Sigmund Hugo Freiherr von Handel (born June 1, 1860 at Mirskofen Castle near Landshut , Bavaria , † June 6, 1928 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian civil servant and politician.

Erasmus von Handel attended the Theresianisches Gymnasium in Vienna and then studied law at the University of Vienna . In 1882 he entered the civil service as a civil servant in the Lieutenancy of Trieste and in 1889 moved to the Ministry of the Interior. From 1902 to 1905 he was governor in the Kingdom of Dalmatia , from 1905 to 1916 governor of Upper Austria . In 1916/17 he was Minister of the Interior, from 1917 he was a member of the manor house . In 1917/18 he was again governor of Upper Austria, 1918/19 a member of the provisional state assembly .
Erasmus von Handel was married and had two children.
