Sigmund Conrad Freiherr von Eybesfeld , also Eybisfeld , (born August 11, 1821 in Kainberg Castle ; † July 9, 1898 in Graz ) was an Austrian lawyer, civil servant and politician.

Life

Sigmund Conrad studied law at the universities of Graz and Vienna and then entered the civil service. He was president of the kk  base load redemption and regulation commission, the kk fiefdom allodization commission, the property tax regulation commission and head of the kk Upper Austrian finance directorate. In 1851 or 1853 he acquired Eybesfeld Castle . Emperor Franz Joseph I elevated him to knighthood in 1854 with the title " von Eybesfeld ", and in 1870 to the status of baron. From 1871 to 1872 he was governor of Upper Austria , from 1872 to 1880 governor of Lower Austria . From 1880 to 1885 he was Minister for Culture and Education in the Taaffe Ministry .
