Art Prize of the City of Kempten (Allgäu)
The art prize of the city of Kempten (Allgäu) is the oldest award for fine arts in Swabia and is given to Allgäu artists for a single work or an artistic life achievement. The first artist to be honored was Ludwig Magnus Hotter (1892–1962) in 1950.
Two artists were twice successful: Martin Wank from Oberthingau (1960 and 1978) and Horst Heilmann from Kempten (1985 and 2002). The art prize, which is currently endowed with 5,000 euros, is awarded continuously.
