Max Schmelcher
Max Schmelcher (born January 1, 1956 in Lindenberg im Allgäu ) is a German sculptor. From 1981 to 1988 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , before completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter . He works with stone, wood and metal. His father is the graphic artist Herbert Schmelcher (1924–1998).

- 2000: Art Prize of the City of Kempten (Allgäu)
- 2009: Awarded Artist of the Year by Deutsche Bank ( Deutsche Bank Kunstförderpreis )
- 2013: Thomas Dachser Memorial Prize
