The Forum Allgäu is a shopping center in Kempten (Allgäu) . It was completed in 2003 in the southern city center. The shopping center is owned and operated by ECE Projektmanagement and the Feneberg family .
The Forum Allgäu was built on the former site of the main train station , which was relocated in 1969 . After years of planning, construction of the largest shopping center in the Allgäu began in November 2001. The shopping center was opened on September 10, 2003.
Retail and gastronomy are distributed over three floors on a sales area of 23,000 m². There are around 46,000 potential customers in a catchment area of five minutes by car, and a total of 248,000 potential buyers in the extended area of 15 to 30 minutes by car.
There is a fountain on August-Fischer-Platz that is based on a design by the artist Max Schmelcher . The fountain was originally intended for the Großer Kornhausplatz , but ultimately took up too much space there. After lowering costs by deliberately doing without two granite arches, it was built there.
