history
The area of today's Anthering was already populated during Roman times from about shortly before the birth of Christ to 500, which is proven by finds of objects from that time.
The current settlement is a Bavarian foundation from the 6th century. The name Anthering goes back to the personal name Antari (or Anthari ) and originally denotes the place of residence of a person with this name and his relatives with the ending -ing . The place is said to have been mentioned as early as 788 in the Notitia Arnonis ; However, it was assumed that there was an initial record of 790 and consequently the 1200th anniversary of the community was not celebrated until 1990.
In the course of the French Wars shortly after 1800, Napoleon's army moved through the area of Anthering, where the general is said to have stayed the night.
Today, as a rural community, Anthering is characterized by its village character with a large number of small settlements. It has the usual infrastructure and social structure for such a place (elementary school, community facilities, volunteer fire brigade, music band, etc.).
