history

Kirchgöming from the east

The place Göming is first mentioned in a document around 1090 as Gebiningen and refers to the residence of a clan around a person named Gibo. In the 12th century, the family of the local people born here is known. The name of the village Kemating as Cheminatingun is also documented in 1090 and generally designates a place of residence of people. The village of Gunsering is first attested in 1230/40 in the form of Gunthering . The earliest evidence is available for the village of Bulharting, which appears in documents as early as 1072 as Pulhvting and probably refers to the place of residence of a person with the Old High German name Bulhut .

Since 1848 Göming has been an autonomous community in today's sense.
