Shippo (civil: Jan Hofmann; born October 9, 1990 ) is a German DJ from Gießen . He has been resident DJ in the boathouse since 2013 and regularly plays at the biggest German dance festivals such as Parookaville , World Club Dome and New Horizons . He is considered a tech-savvy and innovative DJ who covers many EDM areas such as hardstyle , trap and progressive house . He lives in Cologne .

Career

2011–2014: Awareness through contest victories

Hofmann learned how to DJ at the age of 18 and published his mixes on video platforms such as YouTube . Appearances in local clubs in his hometown followed. Laidback Luke is one of his role models , whose creative way of adapting his sets to the audience spontaneously inspired him. In 2011 Shippo won the Envy My Music Contest, after which he was allowed to play at the Cocoon Club Frankfurt. A year later he became resident DJ at the radio station NRJ Rhein-Main and had gigs in well-known clubs such as King Kamehameha , Living XXL and Velvet. In 2013 he won the DJ Contest in the Bootshaus Cologne, which is considered the most popular club in Germany. Since then he has been resident DJ there and played support for u. a. Alesso and Fedde Le Grand . Another contest victory enabled him to appear in the SL Club Miami in 2014, which was one of the most exclusive clubs in Miami . In addition, since 2013 he has been responsible for the background music for the Razer presence at technology trade fairs such as Gamescom and IFA . His affinity for gaming also came into its own when he played a live set in front of 22,000 viewers on Twitch as part of a Rewinside fundraiser supported by Sarazar's Aerochrone label .

Shippo released his first solo track entitled Ayahuasca in 2016. The number can be assigned to the jungle terror .

Since 2015: International festival appearances

Since 2015 Shippo has been playing regularly at the biggest German festivals such as Parookaville, Open Beatz , World Club Dome and Ruhr In Love as well as internationally at Spring Break at Noa Beach Club in Zrće, Croatia . The latter happens in cooperation with "house fans". This is Germany's largest Facebook community in the field of electronic music. Members of this platform launched by Hofmann in 2011 include: a. Mike Candys and Jewelz & Sparks . As its founder, he was invited to speak at the Mixcon music fair in Munich.
In 2018 he played at New Horizons for the first time on the main stage of a large festival and had other international gigs in Italy, Austria and Prague. In 2019 an appearance at the Electric Love Festival followed, also on the main stage.

Side project "TwinX"

In 2015 Shippo founded the Duo TwinX together with Felix "Waldo" Awiszus, which focuses on heavier bass music. They are resident DJs of the boathouse party series Blacklist and played support for u. a. Diplo . They also put on blacklist hosted stages at festivals such as SonneMondSterne or Parookaville.

Their first track together, Twisted , was released on Ferry Corsten's label Flashover. a. Performed in Showtek's TomorrowWorld Mix. Her most successful number to date, Dazed , was released in October 2016 and was supported by David Guetta , Dyro , Curbi and EDC founder Pasquale Rotella, who played the song on their radio shows. Timmy Trumpet also became aware of the duo through the song. Other notable productions deadline , which under Twolouds was releast label Playbox and the Beatport top ten in the area of electro-house could reach and Fuck Minions with over 100,000 views.
