The first festival took place on June 9, 2013 under the name BigCityBeats World Music Dome and was organized by the radio station BigCityBeats on the occasion of its ninth anniversary. 25,000 visitors and over 100 DJs took part. In addition to the main stage in the stadium, there were another 10 micro-floors that were designed for a variety of different genres.

The second festival took place from May 31st to June 1st 2014 and lasted two days. 30,000 visitors per day celebrated with 150 DJs on 12 floors.

In 2015 the festival took place for the first time over three days. Around 150 DJs performed on 14 stages (operated by Space Ibiza and Neonsplash , among others ). The TV broadcaster RTL II partly broadcast the festival live on television on Sunday evening. The broadcast of the television station was criticized because of its lack of preparation and lack of editorial quality. A total of 100,000 people took part in the three days of the festival.

In 2016 the fourth edition took place from June 3rd to 5th. In addition to the festival area, there was also a pool and camping area for the first time. A total of 120,000 visitors and 200 DJs took part in the festival.

At the Winter Edition on November 12, 2016, the management announced that the festival would expand, so the number of stages and DJs was increased once again and an offshoot in South Korea was announced for 2017.

In 2017 the festival took place for the fifth time from June 2nd to June 4th. A total of 140,000 guests, including up to 45,000 a day, attended the festival. Due to several terrorist attacks a few days before the festival, strict security controls were in place for the site.

In 2018 the event was held under the motto The Hollywood Edition . For the first time, there was a 250-meter-long red carpet ( Walk of Fame ) across the stadium area, which connected the helicopter landing pad with the stadium's VIP entrance and which - after a temporary cordon - some artists walked through the crowd after their landing with the helicopter trodden.

In 2019 the festival will take place from June 7th to 9th under the title World Club Dome Space Edition . For this purpose, the organizer announced in advance a cooperation with the European Space Agency ESA and among other things published a video with a message of greeting from the then commander of the International Space Station ISS , the German spaceman Alexander Gerst , which was recorded on board the ISS.

In 2020 the event was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid19 pandemic .

World Club Dome Cruise Edition

A cruise with Robin Schulz as host was offered for April 2017 under the name World Club Cruise . The trip on Mein Schiff 2 from TUI Cruises started as a round trip on Mallorca , led to Barcelona and Ibiza and ended again on Mallorca. The event was repeated in 2018 and will be continued in September 2019 under the name World Club Dome Cruise Edition in cooperation with Norwegian Cruise Line .

World Club Jet and World Club Train

In the run-up to the actual event, a flight through several European airports to Frankfurt will be offered under the name World Club Jet . In 2018, an Airbus A340 was used for this. The World Club Train , on the other hand, is an annual special trip by an ICE train . The standard route is from Paris to Frankfurt via Strasbourg and Karlsruhe, but in 2018 only from Cologne to Frankfurt, which was due to the current strikes at the SNCF .

Both the flight and the train journey are characterized by live performances by selected DJs and appropriate dance and party opportunities for the flight and passengers on board.

World Club Dome Zero Gravity

On 7 February 2018, the event was first World Club Dome Zero Gravity at Frankfurt airport instead. In cooperation with the European Space Agency ESA and Fraport , an Airbus A310 converted into a dance floor took off on a parabolic flight over Europe. On board were guests from every continent who had previously been selected as part of a competition, as well as some celebrities such as pop singer Mike Singer . During the flight, the DJ Steve Aoki and the duo W&W provided the musical framework. A new edition of the event is planned for March 25, 2019.
