Dada Life is a Swedish electro house - DJ duo from County Stockholm , consisting of Olle Cornéer and Stefan Engblom.
history
The electro house duo was founded in 2006. After a few singles , their debut album Just Do the Dada was released in 2009 . The duo became famous when they were voted 89th in the annual Top 100 list of the most popular DJs by DJ Magazine in 2010. In the same year the duo was the opening act for Tiësto . In 2011 the band founded their own label So Much Dada. They were also headliners at the Electric Daisy Day Festival in Los Angeles . In 2012, their singles Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker and Feed the Dada reached the top 50 in the Swedish charts. At the same time they released an audio plug-in for computers, which they called the “Sausage Fattener” (sausage fat maker) and which can be used to generate their specific bass sound . In 2012 her second album The Rules of Dada was released , which reached number 116 on the Billboard 200 . In collaboration with the Bahamian singer Sebastian Bach , who is known as the ex-frontman of the rock band Skid Row , they produced the song Born to Rage , which was released on November 11, 2013. It reached number 53 on the Swedish singles chart.
In early 2015, Dada Life lost her laptop at Stockholm Airport. After hoping to come across whoever had found him through Facebook, they were contacted by a site called "Dada Death", who sent the duo a picture of the laptop. Despite giving them back the computer, they posted the password and a picture of the media library in which all of the unpublished tracks could be seen. In particular the post:
"You think we're joking about having the laptop you lost… what's this then? We listened to your unreleased tracks. They were all shit, so we made a better version… release coming soon"
"You think we wouldn't have the laptop ... What's this supposed to be? We heard your unreleased songs. They're all bad, so we'll make better versions ... Released very soon "
caused outrage and a stir. Shortly thereafter, a preview of the song We Are Kids Again appeared on the “SoundCloud” music platform , but it was deleted after a very short time. Nevertheless, the teaser was streamed and re-uploaded countless times. After Dada Death released a full version of the song in early January 2015, Dada Life decided to release their version of the song as a single. The release took place on January 26, 2015.
Music genre
Dada Life, as the name already shows, are influenced by Dadaism and use different symbols that seem to have nothing to do with each other. Bananas and champagne , which are part of their logo and which the duo would like to have backstage , are characteristic of the duo . They also like to use meat and sausages as symbols for their “fat” sound. The music style is characterized by poppy , mostly fast techno tracks. The duo remixed among others, Kylie Minogue and Chickenfoot and collaborated with Dimitri Vegas , Like Mike and Tara McDonald . Musically, the band stands between KLF , Scooter and Skrillex . The duo uses absurd, Dadaist slogans that were influenced by modern pop culture for the title and lyrics, for example The Great Fashonista Swindle is a parody of Sex Pistols The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle and the song Bass Don't Cry is a nod to The Cure's biggest hit, Boys Don't Cry .
