Chickenfoot is an American supergroup founded in 2008 by ex- Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony , guitarist Joe Satriani and drummer Chad Smith ( Red Hot Chili Peppers ).

history

The first appearance of the band, in which three songs were played, took place in February 2008 in Las Vegas at a Sammy Hagar concert. The debut album Chickenfoot , which was recorded partly in Sammy Hagar's "Red Rocker" studio and partly in George Lucas ' Skywalker Sound studios under the direction of producer Andy Johns , was released on June 5, 2009 in Europe and on Released June 9, 2009 in North America.

On April 30, 2010, Chickenfoot released a live DVD, Get Your Buzz On Live , which features a concert recorded at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix , Arizona .

Work on another album was delayed by the fact that drummer Chad Smith was working with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on a sequel to their album Stadium Arcadium , which was to be followed by a year and a half tour after its release. Nevertheless, Hagar and Satriani were already working on new songs; Hagar reported back in August 2010 that four tracks were finished and seven more pieces were available to be completed. He went on to say that Chickenfoot is not the band that has to feed its members so that you can take your time with the completion of the album.

Chad Smith stated in October 2010 that he would not be available for a Chickenfoot tour or concerts due to his engagements with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was clear to him that the band would have to hire another drummer.

At the end of January 2011, the recording of Chickenfoot's second studio album began in Hagar's "The Foot Locker" studio (after a technical upgrade, he had renamed his "Red Rocker" studio). In an interview, the singer was confident that he would be able to complete the recordings within a month and a half. In contrast to the first time when the recordings at the Skywalker studios were completed, the band plans to record the entire second album at Hagar. In addition to the band, Mike Fraser , who was hired as a sound engineer for the recording of the first album, is the producer .

The album Chickenfoot III was released on September 23, 2011. As the first single from the album, the title Big Foot was released on August 2, 2011 , an excerpt from which could be heard in the album teaser published on July 8, 2011 . The band will tour the album with drummer Kenny Aronoff .

style

The musical style of Chickenfoot was described by the band members as energetic rock 'n' roll, comparable to that of Led Zeppelin .
