Eric Prydz
Eric Sheridan Prydz (* 19th July 1976 in Täby ) is a Swedish House - DJ and producer .
Career
Prydz started making music in Stockholm at the age of nine . After breaking into his school and stealing keyboards , Prydz ended up in a boarding school for difficult-to-raise children.
Encouraged by his friend Steve Angello , Prydz began producing his own tracks very early on. His musical interests were initially strongly influenced by the sound of Depeche Mode . Only when a friend of his older brother brought him a mixtape from Ibiza in 1989 did Prydz change his style towards house.
In 2004 he produced the track Call on Me , which is best known for the erotic style elements in the music video. The focus of the video is the lascivious course instructor played by the Australian dancer Deanne Berry , who during the aerobics class in her black string body attracts the glances of the only male course participant. The song is largely based on samples from Steve Winwood's 1982 hit Valerie . DJ Falcon and Thomas Bangalter ( Daft Punk ) originally sampled, recorded and released Call on Me as a white label . The track was already playing when Eric Prydz was commissioned to remix it , but Bangalter's label Roulé had not cleared the rights to the samples. Prydz 'label Ministry of Sound got the rights himself, and Winwood was so enthusiastic about the track that he re-recorded his vocals especially for the single release. However, Bangalter and DJ Falcon do not appear in the credits.
On September 25, 2004, Prydz reached the top of the UK singles chart with this recording and held this position for five weeks with one interruption. Prydz holds the record for the lowest number of singles sold, with which an artist ever reached number 1 on the UK singles chart. When he returned to number 1 on October 17, 2004, he beat Daniel Bedingfield's previous record from January 2002 with 23,519 singles sold. A week later, he set his own brand even lower with 21,749 singles sold.
On November 1, 2004, he also entered the German single charts at number 1 .
Eric Prydz also produces under a few other stage names, such as B. Pryda, Cirez D, Sheridan or Moo . Prydz is also part of various groups, including A&P Project, Dukes of Sluca, Groove System, Hardform and AxEr . The last name stands for a joint project between Eric Prydz and his DJ colleague Axwell . In addition, he now also maintains his own labels Pryda , Pryda Friends and Mouseville .
In late 2006 the new single Proper Education was released with a sample of Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall .
In 2008 he landed a worldwide club hit with Pjanoo , which was also used as the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony.
In 2011 he released the remix Never Let Me Down Again by Depeche Mode on their remix album Remixes 2: 81–11 , as well as the song 2Night . This was a release of the new album Pryda , which was released on May 18, 2012 in Germany.
