Daniel Bedingfield

Daniel John Bedingfield (born December 3, 1979 in Auckland , New Zealand ) is a pop singer who is particularly successful in Great Britain .

biography

His parents emigrated to London from New Zealand shortly after he was born .

Daniel has a total of three siblings, with his younger sister Natasha Bedingfield also starting a musical career in 2004. Together with her and his sister Nikola, he already performed in church services in his youth under the band name The DNA Algorithm .

His musical career began in late 2001 when his first single, Gotta Get Thru This , recorded in his bedroom and released on a small independent label, hit number 1 on the UK charts . Daniel Bedingfield then signed a contract with Polydor and released his debut album in 2002, which was also called Gotta Get Thru This . A total of five more songs from this album were released as a single, two of which again reached number 1 in Great Britain, If You're Not the One in 2002 and Never Gonna Leave Your Side in 2003. In the US , Daniel Bedingfield reached number 10 as the highest chart position with his first single, in Germany he did not get into the higher chart ranks.

On January 2, 2004, he was seriously injured in a car accident in New Zealand.

His second album Second First Impression followed in November 2004 , from which three singles have been released so far. Despite good chart positions in Great Britain, he was unable to repeat the great success of his first album.

Bedingfield supports Stop The Traffik , a coalition against today's slavery.

Awards

In 2004 Daniel Bedingfield won a Brit Award as a British male solo artist .

In addition, he and his sister Natasha Bedingfield are the first siblings to appear in the Guinness Book of Records , both of whom reached number 1 in the UK charts as solo artists.
