MOONBOOTICA is the pseudonym of the Hamburg DJs KoweSix (Oliver Kowalski) and Tobitob (Tobias Schmidt), who have been playing together since the end of 1999.
General
The MOONBOOTICA music project emerged from the initial Moonbootica party series in Hamburg clubs . The musical appearance can be described as electronic music from the fields of techno , house and electro with slight hip-hop influences. They founded the label Moonbootique , on which their own productions are also published.
- The debut album Moonbootica was released in 2005 and contained a single with the release June .
- On the 2007 album Moonlight Welfare, Moonbootica collaborated with the Hamburg musician Jan Delay on Der Mond . In 2011 Moonbootica released the track Tonight on the English label Cheap Thrills .
- The third studio album Our Disco Is Louder Than Yours , completed in 2012, was released by Moonbootica on the Four Music label . The American rapper Redman and the Danish band WhoMadeWho are represented on Bon Homme .
- In June 2014 the fourth album Shine followed , which entered the top 50 of the German album charts. For the two singles These Days Are Gone and Beats & Lines , a split video was shot in Los Angeles under the direction of Skinny . It is the second collaboration with the French-born director duo after ICONIC . The ICONIC video was shown at the Cannes Film Festival , among others .
Career
In the remix area, Moonbootica have already worked with artists such as Skunk Anansie , Beatsteaks , Faithless , Jan Delay and Hurts . A large number of guests were also represented on their own releases, including artists such as Anthony Mills, Thomas Hofding, Thomas Azier, Mohini Geisweiler, Siri Svegler and the US rap legend Redman .
In addition to their regular DJ sets in clubs across Europe (e.g. Watergate / Berlin, Razzmatazz / Barcelona , Krisha Mira / Moscow ) as well as events in Australia and South America, Moonbootica has also been performing a 60-minute live show at many well-known festivals since 2013, such as z. B. Rock am Ring / Rock im Park , Sputnik Springbreak or SonneMondSterne . The specially designed light installation has a total weight of 1.5 tons and the appearance extends the artistic spectrum from pure DJ performance to a full-fledged live act with guest singers and its own vocal performances. Since 2009, KoweSix has also been working with Kris Menace on the Black Van project , which was published by the New York label DFA.
