The Watergate is a club of electronic dance music in Berlin .

The Watergate was opened in October 2002 in an office building on Oberbaumbrücke on the banks of the Spree in Kreuzberg by Steffen Hack, Ulrich Wombacher, Niklas Eichstädt and Johannes Braun. In the beginning, a mix of music between reggae , hip-hop , drum and bass and techno was the order of the day, after a short time the focus was entirely on house and techno dance music . In 2008 the record label Watergate Records was added at the same address , which publishes mix CDs and vinyl records by the DJs who play at Watergate .

The British DJ Magazine has listed the club in the club charts since 2008, and in 2009 it reached eighth place.

In 2020 the club took part in the “ United We Stream ” campaign of the Berlin club scene, which suffered massive losses due to the measures taken against COVID-19 .

Furnishing

The Watergate occupies two floors, each of which has a view of the Spree and the opposite bank with the egg cold store . On the upper floor ("main floor"), a 12-meter-long LED treadmill from Room Division is installed on the ceiling. On the lower floor (“Waterfloor”) a door leads to an outside terrace on the Spree, which is only open from time to time.
